Donald J. Drunsic is the Founder and President of the Northern Virginia Vietnam Veterans Foundation (NVVVF) and a Director of Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 227. He established the Foundation in 2025 to create a sustainable charitable organization dedicated to raising funds that enable Chapter 227 to provide rapid emergency financial assistance to veterans and their families throughout Northern Virginia. 

A Vietnam veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps, Don has dedicated his career to leadership, innovation, and public service. During a distinguished 33-year career with Electronic Data Systems (EDS), he advanced from software developer to senior executive leadership positions, managing many of the company's largest and most complex information technology programs. His executive responsibilities included strategic planning, business operations, client delivery, and leading large federal technology initiatives. 

Following his retirement from EDS, Don continued supporting government and nonprofit organizations through executive consulting and leadership roles with CH2M, ICF International, Drunsic Consulting, and the Taproot Foundation. Through his work with Taproot, he led pro bono Salesforce implementation and technology modernization projects that strengthened fundraising, donor management, volunteer coordination, and operational capabilities for nonprofit organizations serving vulnerable communities throughout the Washington metropolitan area.
 

As Founder and President of NVVVF, Don provides strategic leadership for the Foundation's governance, fundraising, community partnerships, and long-term growth. Working closely with the Board of Directors and VVA Chapter 227, he is committed to ensuring that veterans of all eras and their families experiencing temporary financial hardship receive timely assistance with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Jay Kalner serves as a Director of the Northern Virginia Vietnam Veterans Foundation (NVVVF) and as President of Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 227. In these leadership roles, he works to strengthen the partnership between the Foundation and Chapter 227 while advancing programs that improve the lives of veterans and their families throughout Northern Virginia. 

A Vietnam veteran who served in the United States Army Military Police Corps in Saigon, Vietnam during 1969 and 1970, Jay has dedicated more than five decades to public service. Following his military service, he earned a Master of Arts in International Relations from the University of Chicago and began a distinguished 35-year career with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). As a senior intelligence analyst, he supported U.S. national security by analyzing complex international issues and providing strategic intelligence to senior government decision-makers. 

Following his retirement from the CIA, Jay continued serving the national security community as a Senior Analyst with CENTRA Technology, where he provided analytical support on intelligence and defense-related programs. 

Since becoming President of VVA Chapter 227 in 2018, Jay has helped lead one of the nation's most active Vietnam Veterans of America chapters, expanding community partnerships and strengthening programs that provide direct assistance to veterans throughout Northern Virginia. As a Director of NVVVF, he works closely with Foundation leadership to advance fundraising, increase community awareness, and ensure that veterans and their families experiencing temporary financial hardship receive timely, compassionate assistance.

Chris serves as Tech Director for NVVVF, bringing a background in software engineering, technical leadership, and systems development. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he has worked across software architecture, simulation, data-driven applications, cloud infrastructure, and emerging AI technologies. He focuses on building practical, maintainable technology solutions and helping organizations use technology more effectively to support their mission. At NVVVF, Chris leads technical initiatives, supports the organization’s digital infrastructure, and helps develop tools and capabilities that better serve the veteran community.

Donald Sutherland serves as Vice President and Secretary of the Northern Virginia Vietnam Veterans Foundation (NVVVF) and as a Director of Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 227. In these leadership roles, he helps strengthen the partnership between the Foundation and Chapter 227 while leading fundraising, donor engagement, strategic partnerships, communications, and organizational development to support veterans and their families throughout Northern Virginia. 

A Vietnam veteran and former U.S. Navy officer, Don served aboard the USS John W. Thomason (DD-760) before becoming a Computer Systems Instructor at the Naval Training Center in San Diego. His military service instilled a lifelong commitment to leadership, public service, and supporting fellow veterans. 

Following his naval service, Don built a distinguished career spanning more than four decades in executive leadership, business development, and information technology. He held leadership positions with PRC, TRW, Siebel Systems, and Templar Corporation before serving as Assistant Director of the IJIS Institute, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving information sharing and interoperability across the public safety and justice communities. At IJIS, Don helped support the Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting Initiative (NSI), a nationwide collaboration among the U.S. Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security, and state and local law enforcement agencies that strengthened information sharing and enhanced the nation's counterterrorism capabilities. 

Don's commitment to veterans extends well beyond NVVVF. Since 2019, he has served as the volunteer Mentor Coordinator for the Fairfax County Veterans Treatment Docket, where he recruits, trains, and leads more than 30 volunteer veteran mentors who support justice-involved veterans on their journey toward recovery, stability, and successful reintegration into their communities. 

As Vice President of NVVVF, Don leads many of the Foundation's fundraising, communications, and community partnership initiatives. He works closely with corporations, foundations, civic organizations, veteran service agencies, and individual donors to expand awareness of the Foundation's mission and strengthen its capacity to serve veterans in need. He is committed to ensuring that veterans of all eras and their families experiencing temporary financial hardship receive timely assistance with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Leonard "Len" Ignatowski serves as a Director of the Northern Virginia Vietnam Veterans Foundation (NVVVF) and as Vice President of Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 227. For nearly four decades, he has been one of the driving forces behind Chapter 227, helping build one of the nation's most active and respected Vietnam Veterans of America chapters through his unwavering commitment to serving veterans and their families. 

A U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, Len was commissioned as an infantry officer following his graduation from the University of Delaware with a degree in Civil Engineering. He served with the 169th Engineer Battalion (Construction) in South Vietnam during 1970-71. He earned a Bronze Star for his wartime service. Throughout his military and civilian careers, he combined technical expertise with a lifelong commitment to public service. 

Professionally, Len enjoyed a distinguished career as a civil and environmental engineer, serving in senior engineering positions supporting federal environmental and infrastructure programs. He worked extensively with the U.S. Navy's Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Washington (NAVFAC), where he contributed to major environmental engineering and public works initiatives. He was NAVFAC’s civilian engineer of the Year for 2005. During this time, he was a member of the American Water Works Association Virginia Section Safety Committee. He wrote numerous safety topic articles for the Association’s newsletter.  Following his federal service, he continued providing environmental engineering consulting to government and private-sector clients as a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.). 

He is married to Diane for over fifty years and they have two sons. Len was a successful youth basketball and soccer coach and a Boy Scouts troop leader for both sons. For the thirty some years, he serves on the Town of Vienna’s Transportation Safety Committee that addresses citizen traffic concerns. 

Since joining VVA Chapter 227 in 1987, Len has served in numerous leadership roles, including President, Vice President, Director, newsletter editor, membership leader, DMZ to Delta Dance chairman, and delegate to both the Virginia State Council and the VVA National Conventions. His dedication has helped expand veteran outreach, strengthen community partnerships, and support programs that improve the lives of veterans throughout Northern Virginia.  

In recognition of his extraordinary volunteer service, Len was named Vietnam Veterans of America National Member of the Year in 2011.He is twice the recipient of the Dean K. Phillips Memorial Award for Outstanding Chapter Service for 1996 and 2000. His leadership has supported countless initiatives benefiting veterans, including emergency financial assistance, the VA Supportive Housing (VASH) Program, Honor Flight activities, military memorial projects, community outreach, and volunteer service programs. His main focus is working with the Veteran Administration Supportive Housing (VASH) program from homeless veterans and their families. He instituted the Back-to-School and Holiday gift card program for VASH clients. 

As a Director of NVVVF and Vice President of VVA Chapter 227, Len helps strengthen the partnership between the two organizations while advancing their shared mission of providing timely emergency financial assistance and compassionate support to veterans and their families throughout Northern Virginia. Len secured the Foundation’s first public donation.

Bruce I. Waxman serves as a Director of the Northern Virginia Vietnam Veterans Foundation (NVVVF). He also serves as a Director of Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 227, where he has held numerous leadership positions over more than three decades, including President, Vice President, Secretary, and Director. Through these roles, he has helped shape programs and partnerships that improve the lives of veterans and their families throughout Northern Virginia. 

A U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam era, Bruce has dedicated his professional career to the practice of law, public service, and nonprofit leadership. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School before embarking on a distinguished legal career spanning more than four decades. 

Bruce served as Executive Director of the District of Columbia Public Employee Relations Board before joining the U.S. Department of Justice, where he served as Chief Counsel for Employee and Labor Relations with the Executive Office for Immigration Review. In that role, he supervised attorneys and labor relations professionals, advised senior management on complex employment and personnel matters, represented the agency in litigation, and conducted executive training in employment law and equal employment opportunity. 

Following his federal service, Bruce continued advising organizations as a principal consultant specializing in employee and labor relations while also teaching employment law as an adjunct faculty member and presenting continuing legal education programs for attorneys. 

As a Director of both NVVVF and VVA Chapter 227, Bruce brings decades of legal, governance, and organizational leadership experience to help ensure the Foundation operates with integrity, accountability, and sound governance while advancing its mission of providing emergency financial assistance to veterans and their families.

Colonel (Ret.) Norman L. Williamson serves as Vice President of the Northern Virginia Vietnam Veterans Foundation (NVVVF) and as a Director of Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 227. In these leadership roles, he helps guide the Foundation's strategic direction while supporting Chapter 227's mission of serving veterans and their families throughout Northern Virginia. 

A graduate of Mississippi State University and the U.S. Army War College, Colonel Williamson was commissioned into the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Corps in 1970 and served on active duty for more than 27 years. His distinguished military career included command and leadership assignments in Vietnam, Europe, the Pentagon, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He commanded military intelligence organizations from the tactical to brigade level and concluded his Army career after serving in senior intelligence leadership positions supporting some of the nation's most sensitive national security missions. 

Following his retirement from the Army, Colonel Williamson continued serving the national security community through executive leadership positions in the private sector. He served as Director of Invertix Corporation, Vice President of Trinity Technology Group, and later founded Williamson Resources, where he provides executive consulting and strategic advisory services focused on intelligence, security, aviation security, and organizational leadership. 

As Vice President of NVVVF and a Director of VVA Chapter 227, Colonel Williamson is committed to strengthening the partnership between the two organizations and expanding support for veterans throughout Northern Virginia. He is dedicated to ensuring that veterans and their families facing temporary financial hardship receive timely, compassionate assistance while helping guide the Foundation's long-term strategic growth.

Meg Reed serves as Director of Media Relations for the Northern Virginia Vietnam Veterans Foundation (NVVVF), where she leads the Foundation's external communications with local media, manages its LinkedIn and Facebook presence, and develops articles and other communications that help tell the story of NVVVF's mission and its impact on Northern Virginia veterans.

Meg is a retired U.S. Navy veteran with 27 years of active and reserve service, both enlisted and commissioned. She began her Navy career in the cryptologic community and spent the final ten years serving with the Naval Construction Force (Seabees), primarily as a public affairs officer. Her assignments included multinational engineering exercises in Bulgaria, Macedonia and Albania. In 2002, she deployed to Kuwait with the Seabees for Operation Iraqi Freedom, where her public affairs responsibilities included media trips into Iraq.

In her civilian career, Meg has more than 18 years of experience in cybersecurity, specializing in areas including security program evaluation, risk management, assessment and authorization, and information security policy. She has supported numerous federal government organizations and programs, including the Department of the Treasury, Federal Aviation Administration, Defense Health Agency and Defense Logistics Agency, and has worked for organizations including Excentium, Applied Insight and Booz Allen Hamilton.

Meg holds a Master of Science in Engineering Management and a Graduate Certificate in Information Security Management from George Washington University, as well as a Bachelor of Science from the University of West Florida.
